Persentase Penurunan Kadar Besi (Fe) Pada Air Sumur Bor Menggunakan Adsorben Bulu Ayam Pedaging (Gallus Domesticus) Teraktivasi Kalium Hidroksida (KOH)

Bulu ayam pedaging (gallus domesticus) merupakan limbah yang banyak dihasilkan dari industri Rumah Pemotongan Ayam (RPA). Populasi ayam pedaging berbanding lurus dengan jumlah limbah yang dihasilkan oleh RPA. Salah satunya berupa bulu ayam yang jumlahnya sebesar 242 hingga 301 Ton per tahun. Bulu ayam merupakan bahan alami dengan komposisi kimia: protein 81%, lemak 1,2%, abu 1,3% dan lainnya. Protein keratin pada bulu ayam mengandung beberapa gugus fungsi utama yang diantaranya gugus karboksil (R-COOH), hidroksil (R-OH), amino (R-NH2) dan sulfhidril (R-SH). Hal ini sangat baik digunakan sebagai biosorben pada proses adsorpsi Fe. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui massa adsorben bulu ayam teraktivasi KOH yang optimum pada proses adsorpsi kadar besi (Fe) dalam air sumur bor dan mengetahui persentase adsorpsi. Adsorben bulu ayam diaktivasi menggunakan aktivator kalium hidroksida (KOH) 0,1 M. Sampel air sumur bor diadsorpsi menggunakan biosorben dengan variabel massa adsorben (1 gram, 2 gram, 3 gram, 4 gram, dan 5 gram) selama 60 menit. Penentuan konsentrasi Fe terlarut menggunakan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom (SSA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase optimal pada massa adsorben 2 gram yaitu sebesar 87,47% atau kadar besi dalam air sumur bor sebesar 0,58 mg/L.Downloads
