PERBANDINGAN PEMERIKSAAN FESES ANTARA METODE SEDIMENTASI BIASA DAN METODE SEDIMENTASI FORMOL-ETHER DALAM MENDETEKSI SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTH

Abstract


Infeksi Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) masih menjadi tantangan besar dalam kesehatan masyarakat, khususnya di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia, dengan prevalensi tinggi di daerah dengan kondisi sanitasi yang buruk. Salah satu metode utama untuk mendeteksi infeksi ini adalah pemeriksaan feses menggunakan teknik mikroskopik, seperti metode sedimentasi biasa dan formol-ether. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan efektivitas metode sedimentasi biasa dan metode sedimentasi formol-ether dalam mendeteksi infeksi STH pada anak-anak di Puskesmas Karuwisi Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional, melibatkan 50 sampel feses anak usia sekolah, yang diperiksa menggunakan metode sedimentasi biasa dengan NaCl 0,9% dan metode formol-ether dengan formalin 10% serta etil asetat, kemudian dianalisis secara mikroskopik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 8% dari total sampel positif mengandung telur Ascaris lumbricoides, sedangkan tidak ditemukan telur Trichuris trichiura maupun hookworm pada kedua metode. Uji McNemar menunjukkan nilai p sebesar 1,00, yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan secara statistik antara metode sedimentasi biasa dan formol-ether. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kedua metode tersebut dapat digunakan secara bergantian dalam kondisi laboratorium sederhana untuk mendeteksi infeksi STH, namun penggunaan metode kombinasi dan peningkatan edukasi sanitasi dianjurkan untuk mendukung upaya pengendalian infeksi STH secara lebih efektif di masyarakat.
