Manusia berkomunkasi menggunakan gaya bahasa agar mempermudah penyampaian baik secara lisan maupun tulis, Gaya bahasa melalui media tulis memiliki fungsi yang dapat mempengaruhi pembaca dan dapat membuat ketertarikan terhadap apa yang disampaikan pengarang. Objek Penelitian ini adalah dua cerpen karya Budi Darma yaitu cerpen “Keluarga M” dan “Yorrick”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa yang terkandung di dalam kedua cerpen tersebut dengan menggunakan teori gaya bahasa dari para ahli. Data yang diperoleh dengan cara studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa gaya bahasa yang sesuai dengan kerangka berpikir yang dituliskan 1. Gaya bahasa perbandingan terdiri atas Gaya bahasa Smile, Hiperbola, Personifikasi, dan Koreksio. 2. Gaya bahasa pertentangan terdiri atas Gaya bahasa Paradoks, Klimaks, Anti klimaks, Silpesis, Ironi, Sarkasme, Oksimoron, Inuendo, dan Sinisme. 3. Gaya bahasa Pertautan terdiri atas Gaya bahasa Eufemisme dan Eroteris atau Retoris. 4. Gaya bahasa Perulangan terdiri atas Gaya bahas Kiamus, adapun fungsi gaya bahasa dalam kedua cerpen menitikberatkan agar kalimat yang dibaca terkesan lebih indah dan menjadi penguat pesan untuk pembaca.
