Study of diseases in hard corals on Tihi-Tihi, Melahing, Bontang. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of coral disease and calculate the prevalence of coral diseases in the Tihi-Tihi and Melahing Bontang islands.The study way done by transect line along 50 m, each quadrant was layed at every 3 m randomly and recorded by underwater camera. Coral samples were taken using a hammer and chisel to identify the type of disease in the laboratory. Parameters of water quality that were including: temperature, depth, salinity, nutrient and phosphate. The results obtained, the value of coral disease prevalence in the area is an average of 29,45%. This value is small compared to the prevalence of coral diseases in several waters in Indonesia. There were 3 types types of coral disease found in the two research locations namely bleaching, fish bite disease and pink blotch (PB). The disease that dominated the research site was bleaching, which is often found in massive and submasive reefs.References
