PENGARUH BATUAN DASAR DAN KELERENGAN TERHADAP KADAR DAN KETEBALAN NIKEL LATERIT STUDI KASUS DAERAH PETASIA, MOROWALI UTARA

Pembentukan endapan nikel laterit dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor diantaranya batuan dasar dan kelerengan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis batuan dasar dan kelerengan terhadap kadar dan ketebalan Ni di daerah telitian. Daerah telitian terletak di daerah Petasia, Morowali Utara. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi studi pustaka, pemetaan geologi, analisis petrografi, analisis kelerengan serta analisis geokimia data bor. Batuan dasar daerah telitian disusun oleh satuan peridotit terserpentinisasi dan serpentinit, dimana peridotit terserpentinisasi tersusun atas mineral olivin, orthopiroksen, klinopiroksen, dan serpentin, sedangkan serpentinit tersusun atas mineral serpentin serta sedikit, orthopiroksen, olivin. Kadar Ni pada zona limonit berkisar 0,97-1,45% (waste), pada zona saprolite berkisar 0,79-2.07% (waste-high grade), dan pada bedrock berkisar 0,35%-1,36% (waste). Distribusi spasial menunjukkan bahwa batuan dasar serpentinite berasosiasi dengan kadar Ni low grade dan sebagian medium grade, sementara batuan dasar peridotit didominasi oleh kadar waste dan secara setempat oleh kadar high grade. Kadar Ni pada kelerengan 0-2% termasuk dalam kategori waste, kelerengan 2-7% termasuk dalam kategori high grade dan waste, kelerengan 7-15% termasuk dalam kategori medium-waste, kelerengan 15-30% terkonsentrasi pada low grade dan sebagian waste, dan kelerengan >30% terkonsentrasi pada kategori waste. Faktor kelerengan terhadap ketebalan laterit tidak signifikan dimana berdasarkan grafik ketebalan vs kelerengan, saprolit paling tebal berada pada lereng 70-150 dan limonit paling tebal pada lereng 150-300.
