Abstract

Peranan pendidikan dalam kehidupan sangat penting. Menurut UU No. 20 Tahun 2003 tentang Sistem
Pendidikan Nasional, pendidikan adalah usaha sadar dan terencana untuk mewujudkan suasana belajar dan
proses pembelajaran agar peserta didik secara aktif mengembangkan potensi dirinya untuk memiliki kekuatan
spiritual agama, pengendalian diri, kepribadian, kecerdasan, akhlak mulia, serta keterampilan yang diperlukan
dirinya, masyarakat bangsa dan negara. Penyelenggara pendidikan tinggi nasional di Indonesia dilakukan oleh
pemerintah melalui Perguruan Tinggi. Salah satu contohnya adalah Perguruan Tinggi di Provinsi Kalimantan
Timur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mempermudah masyarakat memperoleh informasi tentang perguruan
tinggi yang ada di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dan menemuka lokasi perguruan tinggi tersebut. Hasil penelitian
berupa rancangan desain sistem informasi geografis dengan memanfaatkan Google maps, HTML dan
dreamweaver.
