Pengembangan Progressive Web Application Portal Program Studi Teknik Informatika Berbasis Restful API

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan tidak adanya media informasi resmi untuk mahasiswa dan dosen mengenai Program Studi Teknik Informatika Universitas Mulawarman. Informasi seperti materi pelajaran, tugas, nilai, absensi dan pengumuman lain hingga saat ini masih dibagikan secara tidak terorganisir. Media sosial dan aplikasi perpesanan yang pada awalnya cukup menjanjikan tidak menjamin keaktifan setiap mahasiswa dan dosen di setiap platform yang digunakan. Hal ini merupakan salah satu penghambat proses belajar di lingkungan kampus baik untuk mahasiswa maupun dosen. Di era yang serba mobile seperti saat ini, informasi sudah seharusnya dapat diakses dengan mudah dan dapat sampai ke genggaman penerima informasi dengan cepat. Salah satu solusi terkini yang dapat memecahkan masalah ini ada progressive web application yang dapat memberikan aplikasi web dimuat seperti halaman atau situs web biasa namun memberikan fungsionalitas seperti bekerja secara offline, push notification, dan akses hardware seperti layaknya aplikasi native. Dengan mengembangkan progressive web application berbasis RESTful API untuk Program Studi Teknik Informatika Universitas Mulawarman, masalah penyebaran informasi akan dapat teratasi meskipun menggunakan upaya dan sumber daya yang minim.
