Antisocial Personality Disorder: Psychological Dynamics of Inmates in Murder Cases

Abstract


Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) is one of the personality disorders that cause individuals to take actions that violate and are not following the environment, norms, and laws. One indicator of ASPD is impulsivity and aggressive behavior. ASPD is often associated with urges and other crimes. Currently, in Indonesia, the number of prisoners in prisons has increased. Cases of violence and murder are associated with ASPD. This study aims to describe the psychological dynamics of homicide cases with ASPD who has borderline intelligence. This study also aims to analyze the various factors that cause individuals with ASPD and lead to crime or murder. Data collection method using interviews, observation, and a series of psychological measurements. The participants included in this study were one murder case with sentence of 13 years in prison. The findings in this study are that various factors cause individuals with ASDP and lead to deviant actions, namely family functioning, impulsivity, and empathy. Social factors can make an individual with borderline intelligence show aggressive behavior, crime, or murder.


Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) termasuk dalam gangguan kepribadian yang menyebabkan individu dapat melakukan tindakan yang melanggar dan tidak sesuai dengan lingkungan, norma, dan hukum yang berlaku. Salah satu indikator ASPD adalah impulsivitas dan perilaku agresi sehingga ASPD sering dihubungkan dengan narapidana dan tindak kejahatan yang lain. Saat ini, di Indonesia, jumlah narapidana di rutan dan lapas mengalami peningkatan. Kasus kekerasan dan pembunuhan marak dikaitkan dengan ASPD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dinamika psikologis narapidana kasus pembunuhan dengan ASPD yang memiliki taraf inteligensi borderline. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menganalisa berbagai faktor yang menyebabkan individu dapat mengalami ASPD dan berujung pada tindak kejahatan atau kriminalitas. Metode penggalian data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan rangkaian pengukuran psikologis. Partisipan yang dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah satu narapidana kasus pembunuhan dengan masa hukuman 13 tahun penjara. Temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat berbagai faktor yang menyebabkan individu mengalami ASDP dan berujung pada tindakan menyimpang yaitu keberfungsia keluarga, impulsifitas, dan empati. Individu dengan IQ borderline dapat memunuclkan perilaku menyimpang karena dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosial yaitu lingkungan.
