Optimalisasi Manajemen Bandwidth Pada Jaringan Intranet Universitas Mulawarman

Berkembangnya jaringan LAN dan jaringan internet di Universitas Mulawarman yang semakin membesar membutuhkan adanya suatu system manajemen jaringan yang mengatur dan mengidentifikasi kebutuhan akan system komputer. Tujuan dari analisa efektifitas penggunaan bandwidth jaringan komputer di Universitas Mulawarman adalah untuk mengidentifikasi performa dan jumlah traffic yang terjadi setiap harinya, baik pada jaringan LAN maupun pada jaringan koneksi internet. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengamatan terhadap backbone jaringan komputer Universitas Mulawarman. Identifikasi serta analisa mengenai performa dan total traffic. Dari hasil pengamatan didapat bahwa dari dua jaringan yang ada, yaitu jaringan akses internet dan jaringan
intranet, jaringan intranet tidak dimanfatkan secara optimal sebagai jalur akses ke server Universitas Mulawarman yang seharusnya bisa diakses secara lokal.
Pada penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa topologi baru yang dapat mengatasi lambatnya koneksi akses ke server lokal Universitas Mulawarman serta pembatasan bandwidth yang terpusat. Topologi ini diharapkan bisa memenuhi kebutuhan akan akses intranet yang cepat.
